NASHVILLE, TN – (May 11, 2011) - Miranda Lambert recently returned to her native Texas to host the 4th Annual “Cause For Paws” Benefit, held at the Festival on the Square in Tyler. More than 7000 people packed the downtown area to enjoy the music of Miranda and special musical guests, Stoney LaRue and Josh Kelley.

Through ticket sales, sponsorships and live auction items, this year’s event raised more than $294,000 bringing the total amount from the last four years to almost $600,000.  Proceeds will go toward MuttNation, Miranda’s foundation that supports animal shelters, and the Humane Society of East Texas. Since Lambert started the foundation, The Humane Society of East Texas has become a no-kill shelter.

“This year we took our event to the streets of Tyler to open it up to a broader fan base for both Miranda and the shelter,” said Bev Lambert who is the Director of MuttNation. “There was no shortage of support in this community.  Going from 1000 to over 7000 in attendance was quite the feat and we are more than thrilled with the outcome! We want to thank all of our amazing sponsors and the City of Tyler as well as the people of East Texas and beyond for joining us in the fight to aid homeless, abandoned, neglected and abused animals."

On the event Miranda added, “It was wonderful to come home to Tyler again for Cause for the Paws this year.  It’s a moving experience to see all of the support for a cause that is so close to my heart. I am so thankful to my fans and everyone who came to be part of this day and help these animals.”

In addition to volunteering at the local shelter, Lambert adopted her dog Delilah there, who joins her other rescue animals Jesse, Waylon, Delta Dawn, Cher, Black Betty, Virginia Bluebell and cats Shelley, Maxine, and Suzie Q as well as a host of farm animals.

MuttNation Foundation's mission is to raise funds through donations from the officers and directors of the Foundation and the general public, through direct donations, occasional benefit concerts, and other fundraising mechanisms in order to support other 501(c)(3) organizations and governmental institutions or entities whose purpose is to build animal shelters for better care; increase pet adoption and encourage responsible pet guardianship; rehabilitate sick or unsocialized animals; fund spay/neuter programs; reduce/eliminate euthanasia of healthy animals; and train shelter dogs for purposes of therapy programs, assistance for wounded military personnel and dogs-in-prisons programs
