There he was, cowboy hat and all, in the State Capitol in Nashville. Garth Brooks, the most honored and best selling artist in Country music history.
Mr Brooks had the Governor,2 US Senators,2 Congressman and a Mayor for his support cast. Trisha Yearwood on the front row. Impressive to say the least.
He will raise millions for flood relief. A series of musical events in the planning since days after the disaster.
Garth wanted to come in as the closer…and he has.
Always brilliant and on course. He seemed really excited about the opportunity to raise money and do his big show again. Garth doesn’t need the money. He does want to remain in the position he earned. Or it would seem that he does. The senior superstar in residence.
Let the others do their thing then he will do this..It’s why he sold more music and tickets than anyone around here. He just knows how to play the game. Brilliant as always.
In case you don’t know: December 17,2010 concert at Bridgestone Arena Nashville. Tickets are $25.00. If and WHEN this show sells out there will be another announced and then another. Industry experts say 3 shows but no one really has any idea how the fans will react. I think bigger than 3…only availability of the arena not Garth will keep the number down. I’ll put the spin on GBs number. He will make this a huge happening. HUGE!
November 3 at NOON central time is when the ticket sales details will be announced. Stay tuned.
Now on to the other brilliant career of this decade. Taylor Swift. The media blanket was complete. Total publicity for the new cd Speak Now including very positive critical reviews. 2 million shipped and she will sell them all if not this week soon…
Outside control of the Swift spin doctors the story on the movie. What movie? Rock of Ages…an 80’s rock Broadway play getting the Hairspray treatment.
Cruise the bartender..confirmed offer from the studio and Cruise pr. Swift the lead? Whoa! This isn’t a cameo role. And you couldn’t pick a more perfect part. Will she get it/or will she take it/or does she have time for it maybe most importantly.
2011 will be an insane year for Music Row touring. Everyone seems to be on the road. TS will tour arenas and stadiums late Spring/Summer. She may have some time in January to do a movie . I hope she does it. The director is a gem! Adam Shankman. ( he did Hairspray and made it much better than the play!)
TS and GB do it better than anyone else ..I know people get sick of me saying that but they never drop the ball.
I see screwups in almost every other camp. They either hit the tone wrong or their stars are pains in the ass and won’t work as hard as TS or GB.
Some are just not cut out for that kind of fame even if they wanted it. Some try too hard. Many just are posers and get exposed at some point.
TS/GB do the time and treat the fans the best. They have loyal followers the rest only dream about cultivating.
There is no substitute for team. A 1st class team with a star that has a charm and works hard on stardom.
It’s magical. TV cameras don’t lie at the end of the day. It sees through you. It sees a lack of confidence and it sees a fake. If it looks hard enough at you it will see through you.
We have part time stars. We have fakers who are only in Country because rock didn’t take them. The few who are real sometimes just don’t have the right timing or machine behind them. It’s why when a few do hit, you see how all the dots were connected.
It is amazing to watch an Elvis, The Beatles, Shania,The Garth Brooks and maybe, and its still early, Taylor Swift.
It’s not about purity of country music,I’m talking commerce meets art. Great songs presented ina way that connects with the audience. Right place and right time doesn’t hurt. Luck and skill in combination, magic!
NASHVILLE, TN – (October 29, 2010) - In a special event today, the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt named its Pediatric Surgery Center after the superstar country music group Rascal Flatts. Through their hard work and generosity the band has combined to donate more than $3 million to Children’s Hospital. The group’s contributions will allow the “
” to include a new specialized radiology suite, which will further expand services offered to patients. Rascal Flatts Surgery Center
Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney, who were honored today during a ceremony at Children’s Hospital, also hosted a Halloween party with an intimate performance for patients and their families. “We became involved with the work at Children’s Hospital so that children will continue to have a wonderful place to get better and to help their families move on with their lives,” said LeVox. “We have built some long-lasting relationships, not only with the staff, but with some of the kids and their parents as well.”
” will house all of Children’s Hospital’s existing and new surgical programs. More than 12,700 pediatric surgeries are performed each year at Children’s Hospital. Doctors conduct general and specialized surgeries on children, from infancy to adolescence, to address a myriad of congenital and acquired health conditions. The new radiology suite will be used for challenging surgical procedures such as liver transplants and difficult abdomen and chest infections. Rascal Flatts Surgery Center

A sign that bears the group’s name was unveiled today, which marks the entrance to the “
” on the third floor of Children’s Hospital. Rascal Flatts Surgery Center
“All parents and children who enter the area will walk under the Rascal Flatts sign, but the words we write will never adequately express what they have done and how people like them, as well as others, allow us to do what we do,” said John W. Brock III, M.D., surgeon in chief of the Children’s Hospital. “I continue to be amazed, as I have told them, by their level of commitment to this hospital.”

FAITH HILL, MARTINA MCBRIDE 'ROCK THE CRADLE' TO BENEFIT BABIES BORN AT BAPTIST HOSPITAL
More than $225,000 Raised at Baptist Hospital Foundation Event
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Oct. 28, 2010 - A crowd of more than 450 people, including music industry, business and community leaders, attended the Baptist Hospital Foundation's Rock the Cradle fundraiser featuring Faith Hill and Martina McBride.
It was the first time that Hill and McBride had ever performed together. They joined each other on stage at the same time for the performance, singing several of their hit songs, including several songs as duets. The fundraiser took place in the intimate setting of the Loveless Café Barn, where Hill and McBride shared personal stories and interacted with the audience.
The casual, music-focused event also included a cocktail reception, dinner, live auction and performances from comedian Kevin King and songwriters Tim Nichols and Craig Wiseman. Nan Kelley, GAC Host for Top 20 Country Countdown and OpryLive!, served as the emcee.
The event generated more than $225,000 in proceeds to benefit babies born at Baptist Hospital, specifically for the Beaman Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Connie Bradley and Troy Tomlinson served as the Rock the Cradle event co-chairs.
"All of the performers and the event planning committee generously donated their time and talents and we are grateful," said Bernie Sherry, president and CEO at Baptist Hospital. "Faith and Martina have a personal connection with Baptist Hospital. Their involvement in Rock the Cradle will be forever lasting because the funds raised will impact the hundreds of babies who are treated in our neonatal intensive care unit every year."
Each year, Baptist Hospital delivers more than 7,000 babies, more than any other hospital in Middle Tennessee. Approximately 10 percent of these babies will need several days or even months of intensive care provided in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). For parents who face an extended hospital stay for their baby, it can be an incredibly stressful and challenging time. Baptist Hospital Foundation funding has helped to renovate and equip Baptist Hospital's NICU, provide continuing education for nurses and other staff and assist families who have a critical need because their baby is in the NICU.
The Baptist Hospital Foundation, established as a 501c3 organization in 1983, provides a vehicle for friends of the hospital to make tax-deductible gifts in support of various hospital-related programs.
Baptist Hospital is a member of Saint Thomas Health Services, a faith-based ministry with more than 6,500 associates serving Middle Tennessee. Saint Thomas Health Services' (STHS) regional health system consists of five hospitals - Baptist and Saint Thomas Hospitals and the Center for Spinal Surgery in Nashville, Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro and Hickman Community Hospital in Centerville - and a comprehensive network of affiliated joint ventures in diagnostics, cardiac services and ambulatory surgery as well as medical practices, clinics and rehabilitation facilities.
STHS is a member of Ascension Health, a Catholic organization that is the largest not-for-profit health system in the United States. For more information, visit www.baptisthospital.com or www.sths.com.

JOEY+RORY RELEASE FAN FAVORITE
“THAT’S IMPORTANT TO ME” OFF ALBUM NUMBER TWO
NASHVILLE, TN (October 27, 2010) – CMA nominated husband/wife duo Joey+Rory release fan favorite “That’s Important To Me” to country radio stations countrywide. This emotional song written by the couple and Tim Johnson showcases their strong values and commitment to each other and to their family. As with every aspect of their career, Joey+Rory continue to share their lives, home, community and beliefs with their fans with “That’s Important To Me”.
“Every line of this song is true,” states Rory. “We don’t watch much TV, we don’t buy things on credit, we always hold hands when we pray…all of it. This is my favorite song on the record and the one I’m most excited about singing for the rest of our lives.”
The corresponding video (airing now on GAC and CMT) was shot at the couple’s farmhouse, Joey’s family restaurant and the road they live on.
“All of this truly is 100% our life,” said Rory. “Joey cuts my hair on the front porch. She grows starter-plants for her garden in the house. That's my old car that I drive every day (a 1952 Oldsmobile). Having this song out there for people to hear and see is about as exciting for us as it can get.”
Appearances in the video range from their daughters and neighbors to their dog Rufus and their baby ducks. This intimate snapshot of their daily life captures what’s most important to them and highlights the people they care about most.
“This video visually shows what's most important to us,” states Joey. “Our values are so important to us and we believe that we can all be a small part in helping the world rediscover, and get back to, the things that are "most important" in life.”
"We're all very excited to share this song and Joey+Rory's life with their fans," adds manager Matt Maher of ROAR. "While some artists choose to keep their personal lives private, Joey+Rory are transparent about their relationship, home, community, beliefs and their whole life through their music and in particular, with this song and video. It's been a fan favorite from the first time they played it live, and the early reaction is so incredibly strong, its as if people have been waiting for this affirmation of their own similar beliefs."

GRAND OLE OPRY INDUCTS BLAKE SHELTON AS NEWEST MEMBER
"The Grand Ole Opry is an artist and I’m really proud to be one of its songs."
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - (October 23, 2010) - Reprise Records recording artist Blake Shelton became the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry tonight, inducted by Opry member Trace Adkins before a sold-out Opry House audience including family, friends, and fans.
Backstage before his induction,
Shelton said, “tonight for me is the dream. Tonight is the pinnacle. This is what I wanted from the beginning—to make a mark. And tonight is the ultimate one.” Nashville
Shelton opened the show with his multi-week No. 1 hit “It’s All About Tonight,” then returned later to sing “She Wouldn’t be Gone” followed by a duet with Adkins on “Hillbilly Bone.” Adkins officially inducted him into the Opry, presenting him with the Opry Member Award and saying, “with great reverence and respect, it means the world to me to be the one to hand this to you and say, ‘Blake Shelton, you’re the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry!’”
Holding the award,
shared with the audience that he’d been trying to find a way to describe his thoughts on joining the Opry since having been invited to become a member on Sept. 28. “Last night I was lying awake in a hotel room and I finally put it into words,” he said. “I get the same feeling when I come to the Opry as when I see one of my heroes. I am in awe. To me, the Grand Ole Opry is an artist and I’m really proud to be one of its songs.” Shelton
The Opry Member Award is a 14-inch bronze and oak wood replica of the Opry’s vintage microphone stand designed by renowned sculptor Bill Rains. Later in the night,
added his own plaque to the Opry’s Member Gallery, a new addition to the Opry House following the venue’s restoration after May’s flood. Shelton
“Blake has developed a strong connection to the Opry and its members since he made his Opry debut in 2001, and it has been great to see his career bust wide open over the past year,” said Pete Fisher, Opry vice president and general manager. “We’re very happy to formally welcome Blake into our family and look forward to great performances and a whole lot of fun ahead.”
Blake Shelton is one of the “most versatile of contemporary country singers” (The
New York Times). He continues to prove to be one of the industry’s hottest vocalists as he marks a successful year with career highlights that include the release of his two SIX PAK albums – HILLBILLY BONE and his most recent release, ALL ABOUT TONIGHT, four CMA award nominations – including one for Male Vocalist of the Year, an ACM and CMT award win, and two No. 1 hits with his albums’ title tracks. ALL ABOUT TONIGHT debuted at No. 1 on the SoundScan Top Country Albums chart and No. 6 on Billboard's Top 200 chart, making it ’s highest charting record-to-date. He has had seven No. 1 hits which include his back-to-back multi-week No. 1 singles “She Wouldn’t be Gone” and “Home,” his five-week No. 1 debut single, “ Shelton ,” and two additional multi-week No. 1 hits with “The Baby” and “Some Beach.” Austin
